HMAS GOORANGAI SERVICE  2011 will be held on Sunday 20 November

This annual service commemorates the sinking of the Minesweeper HMAS Goorangai in Port Phillip on November 20 1940 with the loss of all hands, and is held each year on the Sunday nearest to the anniversary

The ceremony is conducted by naval organisations and local RSL clubs as follows:

11.00am

Marshall at Queenscliffe RSL, King Street

 

March to Ocean View car park (south end of Hesse Street)

11.30 am

Ceremony at Goorangai memorial cairn

 

The Museum has a permanent HMAS Goorangai display including magnificent models of HMAS Goorangai and MV Duntroon, and artefacts

The full story of HMAS Goorangai and the sinking may be found on the Maritime Archaeology Association of Victoria website

 

5th ANNUAL MARITIME MARKET

Sunday December 4, 2011, 9.00am - 1.00pm

ALL THINGS MARITIME/NAUTICAL. PRE-LOVED or HAND MADE

buoys, marine motors and parts, cruise ship & other memorabilia, yacht bits, model boats, anchors, paintings, prints, small wooden vessels

ANYTHING of a MARITIME or NAUTICAL NATURE

The Annual Maritime Market is held in the Museum grounds, 2 Wharf Street, Queenscliff Victoria (Melways Ref 499 - H9)

Entry $6.00 Adult; Child under 16 free

If you wish to donate items to the Museum stall please leave them at the Museum between 10.00am-4.00pm Mon - Friday

Free pick up of items can be arranged in the Geelong/Bellarine area phone 03 5258 3440 between 10.00am-4.00pm Mon - Friday

INTERNATIONAL LIGHTHOUSES WEEKEND

AUGUST 18 & 19, 2012

Queenscliffe Maritime Museum will celebrate this weekend at Point Lonsdale lightstation:

·       Flag raising ceremony 11am Saturday

·       Lighthouse tours both days (bookings required)

·       Fog Horn soundings both days to open & close proceedings

·       Fog Horn shed open to the public (a rare occurrence)

·       Broadcasts to lighthouses around the world by Geelong Amateur Radio Club

 

More program details will be available from June 2012

Point Lonsdale Lightstation access is by agreement with the Port of Melbourne Corporation.
